Julian Bream Consort, Vol. 6


Mais um álbum do Julian Bream, mais uma vez deixando o violão de lado e tomando no colo seu alaúde, que pelo jeito é seu instrumento preferido. Dessa vez, além de executar obras dos grandes compositores do renascimento inglês (me corrijam se estiver errado quanto ao período em que os classifiquei), junto com seu "Consort" executa também o célebre Concerto em D pra Alaúde e cordas de Vivaldi (e, permitam-me dizer, a melhor gravação que eu já ouvi). Abre espaço também pra Suite Sinfônica pra tenor (ou oboé) e orquestra de Benjamin Britten: uma obra do compositor inglês contemporâneo que Bream mais admira, talvez por ele também ter um apêgo especial à música inglesa do sec XVI.

Fantasies Ayres and Dances - The Julian Bream Consort


Conheci Julian Bream quando assistí um vídeo onde ele tocava e regia ao mesmo tempo o Concerto de Vivaldi em D, para Alaúde e Orquestra. Apesar da minha pouca experiência musical, na época, e de ele estar tocando um alaúde e não um violão, pouco tempo depois reconheci que eu estava diante de uma das maiores autoridades no que diz respeito a execução do repertório violonístico do renascimento e barroco. Quem quizer é só conferir.
